Connect with humans, with sloths, with titmice, with moss and mountains, with fungi, with sunlight, with warts of your own body. We are all interconnected, one being. There’s no separation once we’ve been claimed and claim all. You know it, Dear Jane, with your beautiful whole self.
Jane, it brings me joy to know that you have found such a deep connection with your adopted home. And the connection is rooted in your natural surroundings rather than in man-made creations.
I was at Harvard's natural history museum this weekend. There is an incredible exhibit called "Glass Flowers". The works of art by Czech glass artists are so beautiful and precise you think you are looking at real flowers. But, for me at least, they are missing the soul of nature that you have found...and that is available to all of us if we just take the time to notice.
Thank you as always for being in touch and for noticing. Try as we might... us humans just cant replicate the way the outdoors makes us feel. It's in our bones and blood. Maggie.. its so funny that it's started to dawn on me.. how much I am becoming part of the land here.. like I'm being woven into it's threads. It's incredible and a little disconcerting too. I'm learning to surrender :)
"Follow the typical signs, the hand-painted lines, down prairie roads.
Pass the lone church spire. pass the talking wire from where to who
Knows?
There's no way to divide the beauty of the sky from the wild western
Plains."
-10000 Maniacs, Gold Rush Brides
Thank you so much for sharing Mike... so wonderful. I love this line.. "..pass the talking wire from where to who Know? " :)
